Tom writes us all the time and shares his feelings and insights on what he is going through during this long battle for his life and children. Tom journals to his kids as a way to keep his children in his thoughts and in the full FAITH that his prayers and love somehow is transmuted and felt by his children in their hearts and souls through Spirit. Tom’s Christmas time message we thought would benefit us all on understanding and remembering what Tom’s life was with his kids before they were absconded away from him. This also demonstrates how solid and loving a man Tom is to others as he looks forwad not to revenge or hate; but, to happiness and fun. You can see his true nature of moving on and making life the most fun and loving experience for himself and others.
Merry Christmas Thomas!
The most wonderful time of the year to me has always been Christmas time. I loved it so much becuase of the magic and the wonderment that came with all our family and friends being so happy and wanting to be together. Putting up decorations, getting a christmas tree, all the christmas shopping and baking and cooking and even the cleaning up for guests that were coming to visit.
Of course the excitement and anticipation of Santa Clause coming with all those presents made it so freaking awsome as a kid. I never wanted that to end. None of us did when we were kids. Even as I realized what Christmas really was I remember wanting to recapture that magic about Santa Cluase when I was older. It wasn’t until I had my own children that I found that I could make Christmas time a magical experience for them too.
We had the most awsome and fun Holiday Seasons as a family. We wanted every Christmas to be so special to our kids Matthew, Alexandria, Theresa and John. This Christmas season I remember the things we would do together as a family.
Remember putting up the lights? It took days to put them up and you guys would play in the yard the whole time I was out there on the ladder. After we put our lights up we would drive around in the car or on the golf cart and look at our neighbors lights. Some of our neighbors would decorate their golf carts with lights too. We put decorations on ours like garland and sticky gel trees and reindeer on the plastic window.
We had our big picture of Santa that would hang on the wall. The Elves would come to visit on Thanksgiving day and stay until Christmas Eve. Remembe all the crazy things they would do and get into? Zip lines down the stairs, underwear on the Christmas tree, hiding in the freezer. They even took my car for a joy ride one night and blasted Christmas music with all the other stuff animals.
I would tell my kids that when I went to work I would be helping Santa move gifts and people around the country getting ready for Christmas. It was true…that’s actually what I did as an airline pilot. My kids thought I was a Santa’s helper. I even dressed up in a Santa outfit and made Jingle Bell noises outside so the kids would have a “Santa Sighting” on Christmas Eve. It blew their minds! Matthew was trying so hard to catch me the last Christmas we spent together in 2013. He almost caught me.
Remember that Polar Express train ride we took with Aunt Melissa and your cousin Isabella? That was a cool train but the whole Polar Express experience was and Epic FAIL! It was so funny and even a little creepy as the conductors were all North Carolina mountain men that were a little wierd with no teeth and bad breath. Santa was even picked up in a pick-up truck with fake antlers smoking a cigarette. OMG it was so funny, Matthew and Alexandria just looked at me like Huh? I had to tell them that that was a helper and not a very good one; that as long as we keep the Christmas Magic in our hearts that no one can ever take our belief in the Christmas Spirit away from us.
Remember going to Disney just after Thanksgiving weekend? We always went to Disney for a week and enjoyed the park all done up with Christmas decorations. Man that was a blast!
We were always together on Christmas? We were together all the time, even when I had to work on Christmas…I always arrived on Christmas Day to be with you. It could always get crazy being all crammed together but we enjoyed each other so much. Remember playing games and dancing while having snacks, crackers, salami and other yummy things–It was our fun little thing we did together. We had a happy little family and we had great relationships together. We will again, I can promise you that we will enjoy all those days again. We will make new traditions and wonderful experiences to look forward to all year long.
Just like the seasons come and go. This separation and time of loss is merely a season, it will pass and we will be together again. As you think about all our great times together during the Christmas Season, remember that the main reason we celebrate this day is for the birth of Christ. God has our best interests and absolutely loves us; he never wants us to suffer. We may experience difficulties and trials in our lives; if we seek the joy, the love, the honest to good feelings we have for each other and family, we will find what we are meant to discover in this life–Loving each other the way we want to be loved–treating each other the way we want to be treated by others.
I love you Matthew, I love you Alexandria, I love you Theresa, I love you John…
Believe in the Magic of Christmas; the miracles of love and forgiveness and we’ll find our way back to happiness and togetherness again.
Please think of me and say a prayer every night as you go to sleep for us, especially this Chrstmas Advent season. I will be thinking and praying for you every night as I always do stretching my mind to understand.
Merry Christmas!
